How the document registry works

Record order
Documents run alphabetically by title rather than by date, so documents of the same type and origin sit together. A page shows up to 24 cards.
Searching documents
The search box matches the title, description and reviewed recognised text of published pages. This page has no separate type or language filter: those details sit on the card itself, and a query can be narrowed with words from the document.
Pages and recognised text
Each card shows how many pages are published and how many of them have reviewed recognised text in the page language. That text helps search the contents but does not replace the original file.
Rights and the original source
Rights in documents belong to their owners, so the registry publishes reviewed metadata and a link to the original. The rights status on the card states what is available to readers.

Documents: common questions

Why is there no full text for a document?
The full text belongs to the document owner. Qantar shows reviewed metadata, the page count and a link to the original, so the document can be found and checked.
What does the rights status mean?
It describes the conditions for using the document: open access, ownership, a licence or the public domain. It is shown on the card and determines what has been published.
How does reviewed recognised text differ from the file?
It is a copy produced by recognition and then reviewed. It supports searching and quoting, but where the two differ the original file takes precedence.
